xFTP.co.ukxFTP is not strictly a client. It is infact just a website! The correct term is a web based ftp client which basally means you can log on to your ftp space from the website and do all the usual jobs involved with ftp including uploading, downloading, chmod and renaming.
The service is fast and efficient. You can be logged in, get your files uploaded and be running your website in minutes with the added bonus you don't actually need to install anything on your PC.
Because this is web based it can be accessed from anywhere in the world, which also means if you need to do a quick file change whilst at work you can do safely and easily. No need to worry about any problems by installing any software!
Other features of this web based FTP client are the ability to do mass uploads with the use of an included Java applet and the ability to zip files before or after uploading or downloading.
Another great feature is the in built ability to edit files live on the server. You don't have to download them to your computer! Also included in this is script syntax highlighting. This makes it very easy to read your script and is very much recommended.
There are of course downsides to using this web based FTP client. There are transfer limits which means they limit the amount of data you can move to and from your server. The advertised limit is 250 MB per day.
There is also a limit on file size (50MB) and script time (1500 Seconds). All these limits are fair and should rarely cause you any problems! Plus this is per FTP destination so if you have 2 sites you can have a brand new allocation of resources for each site every day!
There have been mumblings of a paid for service, with out limits but at this moment there is no service of this kind, and to be honest there is very little need!
